The Weekend November 24 and 25

So as I mentioned in my last post I went to bed at 3 and was up at 7. So as you can imagine I was quite tired Saturday morning. Sleep is something I have struggled with over the years but I have had help with it in the last couple of years that have made it much better. So at this stage I wasn’t concerned about it. I heated up my burger for breakfast, it was even better than yesterday, the headed off to cricket.

I had some issues at cricket in the morning thanks to my teams opponents and their parents complaining about the umpiring. It weighed heavily on me after the match and I felt like I was close to bursting into tears. Thats when I did start to worry about my lack of sleep. It was likely I was falling into another bout of depression. Later in the day I would be even more sure.

When we got home from cricket I had a egg and salad lettuce wrap which I am sure was delicious but I was really eating without realising as I worried about the mornings events. I decided to make an unofficial l complaint at this stage and sent a long message explaining everything to the club president. I thought this might help me to feel better, but it didn’t have much effect at all.

I then headed down town where Leanne and the kids were. The kids were to busy to realise but Leanne realised something wasn’t right. This is where I knew I become even more sure that things weren’t right. We were in the food court and all I wanted to do was go to the chinese restaurant and pig out on all my favourites. I didn’t though, I was able to stay strong, but how long will I be able to if I fall into a deep state of depression?

When we got home I shared a bag of pork crackle with Leanne and the kids and then had a nap. We all went to watch Taylah play and umpire netball that evening and got home around 9. Knowing this would be the case we had preplanned dinner and bought a hot chook when we were out earlier. I enjoyed our dinner of chicken and salad and went straight to bed.

The good news is I slept well even though I was up early for Taylah and I to travel to Brisbane. An hour earlier than normal as she had to be there an hour earlier. I was still tired though as I kept on nodding off on the way, luckily Taylah is good at driving now that it’s not a problem although I would rather not have nodded off.

I ate some pork crackle chips throughout the day while watching her play. Around 1 I had leftover chicken and salad for lunch. We left Brisbane around 4. We stopped to get a drink at a fuel station and I got another packet of pork crackle as I was really hungry. I felt guilty after eating it though.

We got home around quarter to 6 and the house smelled delicious as Leanne was cooking a roast lamb. We ate relatively early and Leanne had also made a keto cheesecake for dessert that I was looking forward to. Unfortunately I didn’t like it so I didn’t eat mine. Everyone else ate theirs so it mustn’t have been to bad.

I went to bed quite early and I was thinking Saturday may have just been a bad day due to the lack of sleep as I felt content with things. I was looking forward to weighing in tomorrow. I feel like I am going to get a good result. I am not sure why, I just do, I feel slimmer for some reason.

Friday November 23

Had a sleep in this morning which was well needed. When I woke up I cooked some sausages for breakfast then went to work. It was a fairly basic day otherwise. I ate my lunch of chicken and salad about 3 O’clock and then didn’t eat anything again until I got home from work at about 10.

Caitlin had decided to make bacon cheeseburgers using the bread roll recipe Leanne used last weekend served with keto onion rings. Burgers were a hit, onion rings didn’t really work the way the recipe said they would. They were still onions though, which I love, so I ate them. Taylah had pizza for dinner at work so she didn’t want her burger, so I claimed it and wrapped it in foil to have for breakfast.

I was up to the early hours of the morning because I just couldn’t sleep. I ate half a pack of pork crackle at some stage. I went to bed at 4 am and was up at 7 very tired.

Thursday November 22

I’ve been feeling hungrier as the week has gone on, so I actually had breakfast this morning. I cooked up some sausages but was to lazy to cook eggs lol. So just sausages it was.

For lunch it was some leftovers from last nights dinner which was just as good as last night which I had around midday. I was feeling quite full after and this was a little worrying to me. Strange I know feeling full is what  I should want. However it isn’t really. What I want to feel is not hungry. Now when I feel full I also feel guilty because I think I have eaten to much. I don’t know whether it just a psychological thing or a just feeling. Right now I don’t want to concern myself with it though.

By this afternoon I didn’t just eat to much of what I am allowed to, i ate something I am not suppose to. Caitlin made these shortbread biscuits for Home Economics at school today. They looked so good and I know I shouldn’t have but I did. It had nothing to do with hunger. I just wanted to eat it. I knew this was going to happen if these bloody kids kept bringing in their junk food. At least that’s the excuse I want to run with in my mind, but in truth I know the real reason is my weakness. I should point out though it was a really minor infringement. The biscuits are very small and I only had one bite out of it. The damage should be minimal if not non-existent. But you know if I am not happy with my results on Monday I just know I will be thinking the fault comes from this moment.

I worked late tonight and while I was out I stopped off at Ben’s place who was grilling some chicken breasts on the BBQ for his dinner. He is a great cook and always wanting people to taste his food. Lately I haven’t been able to taste some of his things due to keto, but I was able to try the chicken breast and it was delicious. I will be giving these a go at home at some stage.

It was after half past 10 by the time I got home and I was starving. Waiting for me was a plate of bacon, scrambled eggs and mushrooms stuffed with feta. I enjoyed it immensely and was just what I needed to finish a long day.

Wednesday November 21

Another non-eventful fairly easy day. Although my appetite was a little higher today than it has been. I actually ate my lunch mid-morning, which was some of the leftover steak and salad from last night. I had a snack of pork crackle about half past 2 and again at 6. I need to get back on to the almonds I think if I want to have a second snack. At least I have stayed away from eating a whole packet of pork crackle chips.

For dinner Leanne made some cabbage concoction with mince and bacon. It was quite nice. She also tried to put some of the mixture inside the keto pizza dough and while a good effort it was a little uninspiring. To much dough to mixture ratio and maybe missing some soy sauce or something for dipping. It wasn’t terrible, I just enjoyed the cabbage by itself more than I did in the dough.

I got a 20 minute walk in today and I planned on doing another at Taylah’s cricket training at Ipswich this evening but it was called off because of rain. So that is two evenings in a row that I have been home, I could easily get use to this.

Tuesday November 20

Today was the second day in a row where I haven’t eaten very much at all. Not because I am trying not to, just because I haven’t been that hungry. I had my normal pork crackle snack around lunch time. My actual lunch was a keto quiche with salad. About mid-afternoon I thought I would eat it but I didn’t like the quiche that much so I only had two bites.

I haven’t been home in the evening for that long I was excited that I would be today. The downside is that Leanne is sick of cooking dinner, so it was my turn. Actually I was a looking forward to cooking something. I cooked some steak in ghee, topped the steak with ham and mushroom creamy garlic sauce. I served it with a delicious salad with my famous big mac sauce tossed through it. Neither Leanne or I were able to get through even half of it. Before we started keto we would have devoured it easily.

During the day I got in a half hour walk. I have to be cautious with doing much more than walking at the moment. At the start of the year while playing touch football I  tore my meniscus. I was hobbled for quite a few months and was stiff and sore for a couple of months after that. In fact I was starting to think I would never get back to good. The last couple of months it has been feeling good but since I have been doing more exercise the slow 5 minute runs have started making my knee hurt a little. I am worried I might have permanent damage and never get back to running like I use to.

Weigh In Day Monday November 19

Here it is! D Day! I feel good, I feel confident. Most of the week I was perfect. A little lax on the weekend but not enough to effect my result to negatively surely. I come to the scales weighing 128.4 kgs a week ago and will be annoyed if I am not at least under 128.

Drum roll please!!! 127 kgs! That is a loss of 1.4 kgs for the week and that will do me nicely thank you. A hundred grams short of 9kgs since I started and with another good week next week I am a chance of cracking the 10 kgs lost mark.

I was quite tired today after the weekend. So I dropped the kids school then went back home. I basically slept for most of the day. I finally had something to eat at about 4 o’clock which was just my usual pork crackle snack. I went to work at about half past 5 so I ate a small part of my lunch which was chicken lettuce and mayo, just to tide me over to dinner as I really wasn’t feeling hungry.

I got home from work around half past 9 and Leanne had made a pork and mushroom with creamy garlic sauce for dinner. It was nice enough and filling.

The Weekend November 17 and 18

The weekend started off like every other weekend. I was up early to get to cricket and then went shopping with the family. I was actually feeling nauseous by the time we got home about 3 and Leanne said it was probably because I hadn’t ate anything all day. I don’t think this was the case though.

For lunch I had some leftover pizza from last night and then spent an hour or so playing Red Dead. Taylah had netball at half past 5 so I dropped her off and went to work for a couple of hours. I called into Ben’s at one stage and was just serving up his dinner. He had cooked a pork knuckle with some red cabbage, home made chips and gravy. I had some pork a little cabbage (it was sweet so he must have cooked it with some sugar) and gravy. I shouldn’t have had the cabbage and gravy but it was only a tiny amount so I a was confident it would be alright.

I picked up Taylah and we got home just after 9. Then the most incredible thing of my keto experience happened.Leanne had made keto buns. She had made bacon and egg burgers out of them and they were delicious. They also had mushrooms, pickles and a hollandaise sauce. They are by far the best thing I have ate on keto, delicious! I was like Meg Ryan in how Harry Met Sally, the whole time I was eating it I was moaning in pleasure.

Here is a link to the recipe

Sunday morning I was up earlier than normal as Taylah’s cricket match was on the east side of Brisbane which takes a little longer to get to. Leanne had made an extra bacon and egg burger last night for my lunch and I packed a 50g bag of pork crackle. This was considerable less food than last Sunday, but I thought I ate to much last week.

I snacked on the pork crackle intermittently throughout the day and delighted in the burger at lunch time. The game didn’t go to well for the girls although it ended up closer than it might have. This enabled us to be home just after 5. I was tired and hungry by then and Leanne was cooking a roast pork that made the whole house smell scrumptious. So I fell into that bad habit of grazing while waiting for dinner. Nothing I shouldn’t eat but more than I should have.

Dinner was nice but the gravy left a bit to be desired. Leanne and I have been making gravy the same way for years, so it is a bit of hit and miss at the moment as we try to perfect a keto gravy. This one was a miss. For dessert Caitlin had made a keto chocolate mousse served with berries and whipped cream. It was very nice and I think my palette is getting use to things not being overly sweet which enhanced the dish in my opinion.

There was one constant problem over the weekend and it has to do with my willpower. Not eating bad foods is very easy for me if they are not in the house. It is much harder if they are. The kids who don’t need to be eating keto have been bringing food into the house I would rather they didn’t. Caitlin made a chocolate slice on Friday and when I seen it in the fridge I thought it must be keto and nearly ate a piece. Luckily I checked with Leanne before I did. Then on Saturday they bought frozen pizza, potato gems (tater tots) and party pies for their lunch. They preceded to cook them when we got home and the odour was driving me crazy. Also the last 2 weekends Taylah has decided to eat Hungry Jack’s while sitting beside me in the car during our long journeys for cricket. On It is making it harder and harder to stay good. So far so good but I am only human. In fact on Saturday I picked up a potato gem out of the tray they had cooked it in no less than three times to eat before guilting myself into putting it back.
